im still confused

True almost forgot that WEP was crackable now so you could probably do it without having to turn off the encryption, just may be a little more work is all.

But if all goes well and this works. What would you be gaining? >.>

Well the packet sniffer would pick up the packets travelling to the wii and then you would have your code that you can reverse engineer which that i cannot do, i hate programming :@.....more of a network guy

We could add anything to the wii channels menu, such as a homebrew player, a bootstrapper for a linux distro, space invaders.... anything!*
Provided we can get it to run on the wii in the first place

o0o0 are u guys trying to do something for wiiware?
06-29-2007, 12:37 PM
Ok now I see why your thinking of doing this

06-29-2007, 12:39 PM
Sorry i can get carried away with stuff and not realize not everyone knows what the hell i am saying, i don't even know what i am saying half the time......but yeah it would be pretty sweet if they can get it to work

06-29-2007, 12:45 PM
yeah,
as soon as I've got enough spare cash, I'll get myself a Wii and start collecting updates (hopefully)
If not, we could do a core dump before the update and a core dump after and then run a diff on the disassembly

Yeah....i understood what you said i just have no clue how to do it.......so i would not be much use.

I don't think we should invade anything here. I think we should first see what we can achieve through this new WiiWare project. If we genuinely can't get that working, we rob the b@star5!!! lol
06-29-2007, 02:59 PM
yeah, good plan
06-29-2007, 05:29 PM
We should find details of how we go about this. If you need a programmer, I'm here. With some help and reading over the next few months I could get pretty good. I have the first rung on the ladder, commitment. Would you be willing to guide me a bit? Some pointers etc.?

If you need any help with programming just let me know. I'm a little rusty, I haven't worked in that field for a few years but I can help out if needed. The way to go for this would really be to get wii sdk but... I know I can't afford that.

That piqued my interest. Is there anyone out there at all even at work on a custom Wii firmware? And if there is, how would they get it to download?

Just a quick note - updates are stored on a separate area of the disc than the game. This is how the WiiBrickBlocker is able to function without changing the encrypted/signed game data.
If you want to extract your own clean ISO of a game there is an updated game to SD dumping utility that runs directly on the Wii can can sustain speeds of over 1.5MB per second!

Wow, that's pretty useful info.
We need to get a game packed with the latest firmware and then dump it so we can poke about.
Does anyone know the legality of distributing modified firmware?
