So, basically we're going to strive to find a means of adding an additional channel to the wii dashboard.

Whether it be by interception of an update that adds additional channels.
By reverse-engineering (someone will have to check the EULA on this)
Or other means!

but who's in?

you'll need some kind of programming experience I expect.
Any one out there know PowerPC Assembly?

Also what are we going to make the channel do?
A channel that would give you an advanced and Wii-fied version of WiiLoaded, accessable only from your Wii?
D4rk just... just no...

are you drunk?
It would be cool, but I doubt this will get off the ground.
Well if WiiLi can't do it. And who genuinely knows any script on here other than D4rkDrago0n?
Well since, Nintendo is launching its WiiWare systems for use with everyone interested, shouldn't it be now that we can get excited?
I think this is based off my idea of making a channel on the wii allowing to play ROMS on the wii via a usb storage device.

Of course this would be nifty, but I just don't have the expertise to do such a thing.

What language do they use for the wii channels anyway?
Its always custom but its also always based on C , C++ or C#
Most likely it's PowerPC assembly or even worse, an in-house language :/
Nah Nintendo would hardly program an IBM script after all these years. It's in-house definitely
....sounds crazy to me. I wish I could help but programming's not my thing...
Well originally it was crazy, but since Nintendo is allowing Homebrew via WiiWare (on a very, very minimal scale) maybe we could create something.

And yeah, I'm getting ggod with C++ so I could help after a few weeks/months
* ch3mi0n is a programmer

...but I don't see this happening.
anyone fancy trying to intercept one of the updates that add channels?

we could pry it apart and look at what makes it tick ^^

also it looks like I'm going to have to learn PowerPC assembly then ¬_¬ (you can rarely reverse-engineer something into a high level language)
I don't understand how we could "intercept" an update, or even check how it works (it isn't physical matter, so we can't carry it to our computers)
an update is code... so if you get the code you can open it up and take a look at it.

I dont have a wii so cant help there though. >.<
we'd probably intercept it using either a wireless packet sniffer and grab everything sent to the wii,

or we'd use a wired setup through an ICS proxy and grab all the packets sent to the wii
IM CONFUSED!
As am I
I understood what he said and that would most likely work to intercept the packet, you might have to turn any encrpytion off on the wireless router temporarily though.
