I'm a newbie to folding@home and just installed it. I joined the group as well. I'm gonna reset now to let it start.

Sweet, together we will discover the cure for cancer! We'll call it WiiLoadextrose.

It's amusing to watch. Wu is a work unit right? well it takes 30 days for my computer with just internet open to make one.

I think someone needs to write up a guide on how to use this for those who want to use it. Depending on which version you download it can be a little confusing. At first I downloaded the text only version but then switched to the graphical version. It's currently downloading something. I'm on step 90 of ???

Frame 90 of a full Work Unit. A work unit is a package of data that on completion will be transferred to Stanford University where they review your results.
Also, I may place a more detailed guide up, probably only if this becomes stickied.
And one more thing, Folding@Home will run best if your CPU has multiple has multiple cores or Hyper-Threading (Intel Pentium 4 HT)
If you have an ATi Radeon X19xx or higher Graphics Card you can also run F@H off of that. Generally, a GPU folds proteins much faster than a CPU.

It depends. I think it gets longer the more units you've made. Like in a strategy game where everything takes ten seconds to build in the start but after a while takes many hours. I'm working on my third and I'm on 55/250
01-16-2008, 08:18 AM
How do you know how many more are left though? Like you said you have to reach 250 but where do you see that?
Now it says I have 164 but have yet to get 1 Wu...
Also, it doesn't even show me on the team page? Is mine even counting or helping us???
Edit: I'm retarded and for the last 3 hours it has not even counted. There was an error about the core or something. I just uninstalled and reinstalled and it looks totally different now and seems to be working...

Ok cool.
If you hover the mouse above the red gear symbol in your system tray it will tell you your stats i.e "164/250"
For the team, you have to right-click the symbol, click configure, and enter 77734 into the Team Number box and click OK

0/1500 for me.
Hmm.
Hmm.
01-16-2008, 10:30 PM
omg, I'm only 45/1500. I just checked now! Why do I have to reach 1,500 on my first time doing it?
01-17-2008, 09:48 AM
Mine took a while to start moving.

don't know how i missed this way back when, but i'm in now
and MBX, i believe you'll be displayed on the team roster once you actually donate a WU. the last donation was mid december according to the statistics chart, so that was probably the last time it was updated
01-17-2008, 12:34 PM
Yeah you have to make at least 1 WU to reach the leaderboard.
LMX has the highest post count on WL (15,000)
LMX has the highest WU load (69)
Yet again we are owned by LMX...

Lol, I'm about 1/5 of the way to reaching 1,500 but almost time for me to get some sleep so it'll be paused until tomorrow in the evening. It's gonna take a long time since I'll only be using my laptop when I'm not working.
01-17-2008, 01:02 PM
You're 1/5th to 1500? That's impressive man!

01-17-2008, 02:13 PM
I will be setting up a couple of my computers to contribute
01-17-2008, 02:34 PM
Great! Joker, could you sticky this? Multiple CPUs running multiple cores is the way to go
