The Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 skirmish isn't the only format war going on in the tech world these days. There's also a tussle between Toshiba's HD-DVD and Sony's Blu-ray formats to be the high-definition-ready successor to the DVD.

Another shot was fired on both fronts this week, as a veritable posse of movie studios and consumer electronics companies jointly announced a summer sales promotion to drive sales of Blu-ray players. From July 1 to September 30, customers who purchase qualifying Blu-ray players--yes, the PS3 qualifies--will receive five free Blu-ray movies from a list of 21 choices.

See? The PS3 does count as a Blu-Ray player...but is it a game system?

SONY WILL DO ANYTHING FOR MONEY

Only on here would a member complain because they could get FREE STUFF.  Oh and btw you should check and see all the companies and movie studios that support Blu Ray.  If you think Sony is the only one, you'd be mistaken.  If your looking for that "do anything to make money" you should look to other console makers.  Sony doesn't make 1 penny off of the PS3  

*As for the source material...this is really good.  What better way is there to sell practically anything, but to give away free stuff.

Any company will do anything for money...

It seems like some people forget the goal of all companies is money.

I think it's kind of funny how a couple of sites are saying these movies are all crap. I can pick out over 5 that I would love to have on Blu Ray for free.

Babel, Chicken Little, The Corpse Bride, The Devil's Rejects (that movies rocked), RE:A, Stealth (really liked it), Stir of Echoes (better then Sixth Sense), and Underworld Evolution.
