which handheld system do you prefer playing and which one do you think is better?

I think the DS is much better because you can play mario on it and it just looks so high-tech.

Well its getting harder for me now, the DS is getting a lot of games I want, and so is the PSP, but I'd still have to go with the DS, but I want a PSP by 2008.

Anyway, I say the DS but if you're looking for a portable multimeda thingy then the PSP is the answer. It has great support for homebrew games and other stuff, while also getting some weird FF support. DS is majorly sexy though so my final verdict is still DS.
well, there is the Media Dock for the DS to play music and movies, and the DS browser is out or coming out soon, so there are options
overall, i DS is better imo. you can use your iPod to play movies and listen to music, so you don't really need the PSP for that, and few could argue that games on the PSP are better than the DS. sure it has a few good ones, but not the extent of the DS

DS! I highly regret getting a PSP and because of the lack of games I only play ROMs of Nintendo games anyway.

The PSP has no really good games, and the DS has plenty. 'Nuff said.
i say ds ftw because of the amounts of good games battery life and because of the touch screen
I don't have a PSP, so my opinion might be biased. But the reason I don't have one is cuz the DS is all that I need. You can't beat the touch screen or the games.
DS can do everything a PSP can do (with the help of a mod, still cheaper then the PSP anyway) and has a much big library of games.
When going for a handheld, its usually for gaming, you can get the rest elsewhere if you really need to. Frankly PSP has none.
Sure it has some good games, but they aren't what I'd consider handheld games. Handheld games should be able to be played, and ended whenever you want. As you don't usually play handhelds for long periods of time, its mostly for travel or just to kill some time. Otherwise you have those long console games to play.
PSP has mostly PS2 ports, so its like playing console games.. on a tiny screen. Crappy console games.
DS does everything that a PSP does only better.

Of course, without the mod, you're lacking on the multimedia and homebrew market, but games > multimedia imo, so DS still wins

PSP is also expensive to get everything you need and tricky to get homebrew with all the firmware editions

Okay, so you've posted this on a Nintendo forum. A vast majority will vote for the DS.
Now I also would vote the DS.
It has a cheaper price tag. Promising potential for games. And not to mention alot of great upcoming titles.
But if you want multimedia and have enough cash in your wallet pick up the PSP.
I much prefer Pokemon, Metroid and Mario to FF, MGS and Silent Hill of the PSP though.
The DS already has a pretty nice library, not to mention Contra 4, Phantom H-glass, and FFIV on the way
i also have both units and i think the ds lite is a much better unit.
In my opinion, the DS is much better than the PSP for a few good reasons:
1. Mario
2. Zelda
3. Pokemon
4. Metroid
5. Kirby
6. Star Fox

So it seems the games are the defining factor in this war, which works well being as they are the most important aspects of a system imo.
