For anyone who has never graced the beauty of ROCK BAND, then please allow this reporter to recommend you to do just that, as once he had played this game with two friends, he was hooked. This is truly the revolutionary title of the 2000s era and it is only right that it see the most successful gaming platform of the "current gen".
ROCK BAND will be released in the US and Canada on June 22, 2008 for a suggested retail price of a reasonable $169.99. The Wii version will be a Special Edition pack featuring the usual ensemble of 63 songs, plus 5 extra "Wii only" tracks for us to sing, strum and beat along to! As of yet, there is no confirmation of a European or Australian release date.
"The Wii's success among casual and core gamers of all ages makes it an ideal match for the cross-generational appeal of the music featured in ROCK BAND,"
Bob Picunko, Vice President of Electronic Games and Interactive Products, MTV
With over 40 awards under its belt since its launch, it's no wonder why the company want to bring it to Nintendo's home console. That, and the outstanding soundtrack that encompasses the whole purpose of the game is what makes ROCK BAND stand out from the crowd. Thunderous rock anthems such as "Learn to Fly" by the Foo Fighters and "Cherub Rock" by Smashing Pumpkins as well as a whole host of downloadable tracks keep the players (and believe us, this game requires the plural!) coming back for more, in itself inspiring an epic replay-ability factor. One must ask, however, if we will be seeing the aforementioned downloadable content on the Wii version.
