Sam and Max is a hit franchise which has spanned comic books, cartoons and PC games and is finally making the jump to home console entertainment with the much rumoured Season 1 bundle coming to the Nintendo Wii console.
Telltale developers have finally officially confirmed their game is coming due to over whelming pressure. They have spoken of e-mail campaigns, large fan demand and some un-true rumours, which sparked interest for developers who ultimately caved in and decided to give the people what they wanted in the form of a season 1 bundle. This bundle includes the first 6 episodes of the PC episodic content.
The game will be controlled with the Wiimote only with the pointer acting as the mouse so it is a straight forward port. You walk around town interrogating people, driving, playing some mini games and taking part in the general shenanigans of the lovable pair.
If you've never heard of the pair then don't dis-pair here's a quick run down!
In 1987 Steve Purcell had a brainstorm for a new comic and it was released as simply 'Sam and Max'. The characters were later adapted for the 1993 computer game Sam & Max Hit the Road, the 1997 cartoon The Adventures of Sam & Max: Freelance Police, and the more recent Sam & Max episodic adventure games for Windows PCs. The series follows the adventures and mishaps of two quirky pals, Sam is a 6-foot tall anthropomorphic dog in detective's clothing and Max is a "hyper kinetic rabbit thing". They are private investigators but they like to be called 'freelance police'. They live in a Pop Culture Parodied New York city but have been known to get out and about in their apparently indestructible 1960 DeSoto Adventurer with a traditional black-and-white paint job. They are often lead by a mysterious commissioner over the phone but normally they just walk straight into trouble. They fight off crime with some good old fashioned over sized weaponry, Sam handles a gigantic revolver while Max likes to use a Luger but the pair have been known to use a wide arsenal of weaponry. Don't be fooled, guns aren't the only way as more often than not they have to rely on creative techniques to stop the criminal!
Get ready to join Sam and Max in their crime fighting capers for Season 1 late summer/early fall.
