Most of the internet is now aware of Apple’s new(-ish) product, the iPad, and although it hasn’t been receiving much in the way of positive feedback there is one person in particular who is less than impressed by it. Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, has pitched his two cents on the iPad topic, and his comment is one of dismissal.
“It was a bigger iPod Touch”, Iwata told Associated Press, adding that the new device offered “no surprises”.
So, who out there is surprised by what Iwata has said? Nintendo themselves being prone to making similar moves (Game Boy Micro, Nintendo DSi LL), does Iwata have any leg to stand on with his opinion?
He also spoke about the recent hype surrounding 3D technology and the constant rumours that Nintendo are readying a high definition re-design of their money-printing Nintendo Wii. When asked about 3D technology he said, “I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home. How is that going to look to other people?” Then when asked about the rumours of the new Wii he said, “I question whether those features would be enough to get people to buy new machines”.
Nothing out of the ordinary for Nintendo here though, and perhaps he does have a point.
