With Nintendo's recent announcement that 1 million Wii consoles will be available in North America at launch, we have to wonder, will it be a sellout?
While a plentiful supply is good news for people that want to wait til the last minute without paying top dollar on eBay, leftover units on November 20th may give the Wii negative light after the scarce 360s of Holiday 2005 and the near certain PS3 sellout (due to very limited supply).
Of course, this puts Nintendo in a strong position going into the holidays, as Microsoft found out, it's not good to be standing there with nothing to sell when people want to give you money. While I would not recommend waiting til December 24th to get that special someone a nicely wrapped Wii, one million units at launch alone might make that possible.
