Remember that new Wii SKU recently discovered? Well, Wired News did some rummaging, and found that the UPC (or Universal Product Code) attached to the new SKU is registered to a little something called "Wii Play N' Learn".
It's looking like Nintendo is sticking to its guns, and aiming them straight at young children, more than likely aged 3-8, in an attempt to... educate them? Wii has been such a phenomenal success with all categories since its launch in November of last year, and you can be sure that the Japanese giant will be wanting to maintain a firm grasp of its new found market.
Since the product description clearly says "Wii Play N' Learn", it is not yet clear if this will be a standalone product, a Wii console package deal, or both. With the holiday season coming up and Wii demand steadily on the rise, Nintendo will want to make sure they have something to offer everyone. Santa's sleigh will certainly be full of Wii products this year!
Another possibility is that Nintendo are going to package existing games with Wii under special names. For example: The "Wii Play N' Learn" package could be a Wii console, a copy of Wii Play, and a copy of Big Brain Academy. Curious? So are we.
