Later this month, THQ will be releasing their attempt at a fun and addicting rythm based game, Battle of the Bands. Judging from the screen shots available, it's clear to see that TQH got their inspiration from Activision's massive hit, Guitar Hero. But we shouldn't be calling the game "Battle of the Bands" anymore because THQ recently decided to rename the title, Band Mashups.
The core of the game play requires two players to battle it out in a Wii remote flicking competition. As notes come flying towards the screen you must flick the Wii Remote in the correct direction assigned to the note. Some of the different movements involve flicking the controller left, right, down or shaking it. Stringing some notes together successfully results in activating the "battle". Basically you fire shots at your opponent's band in a desperate attempt to win. The game also boasts a selection of 30 different tracks.
Band Mashups is mainly focused on two player battles but single player modes are available. The game will offer quite a lot of fun at parties but falls short due to the lack of online options.
