What we've known until now as Everybody's Nintendo Channel has been available in Japan for nearly five months and everyone outside of the island nation has been eagerly awaiting a release date for their region. Nintendo made it official today that the Nintendo Channel would be launching in the US alongside its WiiWare service which is scheduled to arrive in North America on May 12.
Along with an expected launch period (May 12 was not confirmed to be the exact date) the announcement came with loads of great info about Nintendo's newest Wii channel. If a user has played a WiiWare title for at least one hour they will be able to leave a review of the game via the Nintendo Channel for others to read and base their decisions upon. Demos of WiiWare titles will not be offered so this would be the best way for Wii owners to get informed about what WiiWare has to offer.
Other features already available in Japan include steaming web video, upcoming release dates of Wii and DS software, and downloadable DS demos like the ones available at DS Download Stations. The channel will be available from the Wii Shop Channel free for download.
