Mega Man 9 Getting Intentional Bugs and Flickering
Posted by: ZeldaFan  - 08-05-2008 01:45 PM - Replies (13)
With the release of Mega Man 9 coming this September, Capcom really wants this game to be an old school experience. According to the company’s Hironobu Takeshita, an optionable feature will make the game screen flicker to create a true old-school experience. Thank goodness it’s optionable.

"Yeah, there were some things, like you couldn't have more than three enemies on the screen at once, so we had to make sure that that's how it stayed in our game. In the part with the dragon with the flame, [there should be] flickering, and whatnot," noted the game's producer. "In the options of this game, you can adjust that, unlike the old games. We purposely put some of those old-school bugs into this game, so it does recreate that feel.

If only Capcom could make us need to blow in the Wii game disc slot. Now that would be old-school.
