While this past SEGA Gamer's Day may be most remembered for the announcement of Wii exclusive MadWorld along with it come rumors that SEGA will bring the critically acclaimed Shenmue series to Wii. The original Shenmue and its sequel were originally released on SEGA's ill fated Dreamcast with the sequel also seeing an Xbox version.
Years ago there had been rumors of the franchise coming to GameCube which SEGA had never come out and fully denied and until the company comes out to squash this rumor we can't help but feel a bit optimistic. Perhaps SEGA is hoping to break even with the series as the original game's astronomical development cost of $70 million (which has since been overshadowed by GTA4) meant that every Dreamcast owner would have needed to purchase two copies of the game each for the company to see any money.
