Cost Rumors
Posted by: Patton91  - 05-18-2006 01:34 PM - Replies (11)
This just in, a Swedish paper may have revealed the Wii's pricing, to the dismay of me and I'm sure everyone else.

Quote:
According to Patrik Johansson at Nintendo's Swedish general agency, the price for a Wii-console will be between 2500-3000 kronor, a few thousand kronor less than the competitors consoles. Wii will be launched globally at the end of 2006.

Wii Price

Keep in mind that this is roughly 10:1 exchange to the US Dollar, so it would relate to ~$250-300!

Oh wait, wouldn't we feel stupid if this was just some random price speculation, not yet confirmed?  Not like that hasn't happened before!Toungue

Wii Disc Eject

This is kind of cool, despite being in French.

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QYNZ90kB2wk"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QYNZ90kB2wk" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object></a><br />
<br />

Disc Eject

This also answers some questions I had about the disc drive.  At first, I thought this was it, but then I saw this flap on the side (you will see this in an upcoming post as well), and thought that was it, and the blue light was just for kicks, but this calms down some speculation.

Gamecube titles should be able to enter and exit this same slot!

Bad Rumors, Bad News If True
Posted by: Patton91  - 05-18-2006 04:45 AM - Replies (5)

Quote:
The Nintendo "Wii" games were all actually running on Gamecubes at E3? That's what Nintendo fans are suggesting with some behind the scenes photos (thanks Penny Arcade). Imagine if the 360 games were running on an old Xbox at E3, or the PS3 games were running off of PS2s? I've heard of backwards compatability, but forward compatablity is a new one to me

Source

If this is true, what will this mean for the respectability of Nintendo Wii; but, then again, it's just a rumor.  Or maybe, the games aren't even fully completed, and those games were just like the dev-kits for games (and, if so, won't the graphics be twice as good when they're playing on the Wii itself?).  So, some good news (maybe) rises out of the ashes of bad.

I am your new official news reporter!  I'm here to help gather the big news stories, and bring them here to you.  As my first story, I will be sharing something for all you Mega-Man fans.

Quote:
Planet Megaman recently interviewed Keiji Inafune (creator of Megaman) who commented that "Wii definitely has some potential, and it's maybe one where our target audience could embrace the Mega Man series." News sure to please Nintendo Megaman fans all over.

It's not much. but. as my first story, I'm happy to report on it.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Box Cover
Posted by: z6joker9  - 05-17-2006 09:24 PM - Replies (14)
EBgames.com has released a box cover image of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.  It is possible that they are the first to get this, or perhaps they just created it themselves.  Either way, here is a possible game cover for the upcoming Zelda game!

Differences between the two PS3 models.
Posted by: z6joker9  - 05-17-2006 08:39 PM - Replies (9)
Just to keep members informed, here are the differences between the two Playstation 3 consoles that Sony intends to release.

Sony will release two verions, though most of the first to arrive will be the Premium flavor.  The basic version may not be sold in some countries, notably, Europe.

The premium will release at $599 USD and will feature a new cell processor, Blu-Ray drive, a 60 GB HDD, 6 USB ports, bluetooth controllers (up to 7), wi-fi for PSP connectivity, ethernet connection for networking, a slot for memory cards, and a port to hook up a HDMI lead for 1080p output.

The basic version will release at $499, and will have a 20 GB HDD and be lacking wi-fi, memory card slots, or, the largest concern, HDMI output.  Otherwise, it's feature list is the same as the premium, though the casing of the premium may be slightly different to visually tell the difference.

The Playstation 3 releases in the US and Europe on November 17, slightly after the November 11 Japanese release.

New Profile Options added!
Posted by: z6joker9  - 05-17-2006 07:39 PM - Replies (2)
Since the Wii News is a bit slow today, we are offering our members the ability to exchange friend codes!

Three new profile options were added:  Mario Kart DS code, Animal Crossing DS code, and Tetris DS code.

Be on the lookout for more features to be added soon that will make the exchange of friend codes, both on the DS and later on the Wii, easier than ever!
